Our Story
Alpha Transit began as a simple idea: create a gathering place where food quality and community connection matter equally. What started in 2019 as a small neighborhood spot has grown into a destination for those who value transparency in their meals.
Our name reflects the crossroads location where we opened, a transit hub where people from different neighborhoods converge. That diversity inspired our approach to cuisine—drawing from multiple culinary traditions while staying rooted in local ingredients.
We work with twelve regional farms and producers. Every Thursday, our chef visits the farmers' market to plan the menu based on what's at peak freshness. This relationship-driven model means our offerings change with the seasons, but it also means every dish represents the best of what local agriculture can produce.
The dining room was designed by a local architect who prioritized natural materials and sightlines into the kitchen. We wanted guests to see the preparation process, to understand that good cooking is both craft and care.
Our team includes chefs trained in classical French technique, line cooks with roots in Southeast Asian street food, and pastry specialists who trained in Montreal's bakery scene. This mix of backgrounds shows up in unexpected menu combinations that still make sense together.
We compost all organic waste through a partnership with an urban farm. Excess produce gets donated weekly to a community kitchen. Our to-go containers are compostable, and we've eliminated single-use plastics from our supply chain.
What matters most is that people leave feeling they've had an honest meal—nothing pretentious, nothing cutting corners. Just thoughtful cooking with ingredients that were grown or raised with the same level of care we bring to the kitchen.
